Orthognathic Surgery / Corrective Jaw Surgery Procedures

Lower Jaw Surgery (Bilateral Saggital Split Osteotomy)

Functional and cosmetic oral surgery that optimises In this procedure, the lower jaw is moved into the desired position in line with your teeth. Typical movements include mandibular advancement, which allows optimal function of your bite, enhances your jawline and increases posterior airway space for easier breathing while restoring facial balance.

Upper Jaw Surgery (Le Fort 1 Osteotomy)

In this procedure, your upper jaw (Maxilla) is moved or re-shaped to improve function and aesthetics. This may include a segmental osteotomy (3 piece le fort), or SARME (Surgical Assisted Rapid Maxillary Expansion) to help widen the upper jaw and floor of the nose.

Double Jaw Surgery (Bimaxillary Osteotomy)

In this procedure we perform procedures on both the upper and lower jaws together. As the jaws develop together, this procedure may be required to allow optimum form and function. Advancement of both jaws (Maxillomandibular advancement or MMA) helps to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Genioplasty (Chin Surgery)

In this procedure we can correct the position or shape of your chin to enhance harmony. Genial Tubercle Advancement can be used to treat OSA and improve your airways.

Innovative Techniques

Our surgeons are trained to provide innovative techniques including ‘Surgery First Orthognathics’ and rotation of the maxillomandibular complex. ‘Surgery First’ techniques allow greater control over the surgical date and can reduce orthodontic treatment time, while counter-clockwise rotation can optimise your airways and aesthetics.
